1968 The Piggott Chamber of Commerce held their annual meeting 40 years ago this past week, and okayed the group's by-laws. The local chamber now has 77 members, with a goal of 100. Thanks to the efforts of the local Jaycees, the Piggott Air Park is now listed on the official Arkansas Aeronautical map according to a letter sent to Dr. B. B. Layl. Construction of the airport was a major project of the Jaycees in the early 1960's...
Tribe splits conference games in past week

The Piggott Mohawks have been playing some quality basketball in the past few weeks, and the effort has been reflected on the scoreboard. Last Tuesday the Mohawks traveled to Brookland and dropped a 12 point decision to the Bearcats despite scoring 84 points on the night. Abigail Braman, 48, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Baptist East Medical Center in Memphis. She was born Aug. 21, 1959, in Piggott.
