On New Year's morning new Clay County Clerk Pat Poole (right) re-enacted giving the oath of office to new Sheriff Gerald McClung at the courthouse in Piggott. The new sheriff had actually been sworn-in by Poole just after midnight along with several deputies.

Duane and Annette Dutka of Piggott (center) recently met Regina and Ulrich Sagbauer of Germany in Amsterdam as they returned from the Ukraine. The Sagbauers are the parents of Piggott High School foreign exchange student Linda Sagbauer, who is currently staying with the Dutkas.
