Tropical storm Fay has closed America's space port, Kennedy Space Center, today (Tuesday, August 19), with only about 200 emergency employees staying on the site. The storm hit the coast of Southwest Florida this morning and should affect the space center this afternoon. The 3 space shuttles are safely tucked away in buildings. Launches coming up are Atlantis (STS-125), to launch 12:34 AM on October 7 to make the final maintenance run to the Hubble Space Telescope, and Endeavour (STS-126), to launch 8:31 PM on November 10 to the International Space Station. |
