Volleyball district tournament setPosted Thursday, October 15, 2009, at 10:26 AM
For the first time in years, there will be a 3A-3 Northeast volleyball conference tournament this weekend at Crowley's Ridge Academy at Paragould.
The Piggott Lady Mohawks, fourth place finishers in conference during the regular season, would have been shut-out of a trip to state under last year's format..but this year have a chance to earn yet another trip to Harrison. The Tribe will need to finish in the top three, and going into the tournament the top three seeds are Brookland, Crowley's Ridge Academy and Harrisburg followed by the Mohawks. The remainder of the conference members are Bay, Hoxie, Ridgefield Christian and Walnut Ridge. The Mohawks will begin their quest with a 1 p.m. start Saturday as they take on the Lady Yellowjackets of Bay. Then, with a victory, they'll advance to the 4 p.m. game when they'll take on Harrisburg. With a victory over the Lady Hornets the Mohawks will once again advance to the state tournament. Again, the games are being played at CRA and all Mohawk fans are encouraged to attend. |
