Busy time of year for sports fans

It's still a busy time of year for the average sports fan although we've reached a transitional stage. The spring and summer sports of baseball, racing and such are just getting into full swing..while the winter sports of basketball and hockey are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
For both sports, which languish in the background during their long regular seasons, the spotlight shines in the late spring and early summer. The NHL got a great matchup with the Detroit Red Wings taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Pen's feature one of the hottest young stars in Sydney Crosby and of course Detroit is Hockey Town USA. Meanwhile, Thursday night the fabled NBA rivalry of the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers will be re-newed. The faces and names are different but the talent is still there..it should be an interesting series. Sadly, I hate to watch the NBA sometimes because of the poor shooting. I cringe when a guy who is making enough money to feed a small country each year can't hit a 10-foot jumpshot with any regularity. Gorilla dunks are fine and are especially easy if you're tall..but give me a pure shooter any day. They may not be as flashy but they'll win games and championships..that and making your free-throws. In closing today I'd just like to say how disappointed I was that no one responded to my racing rant..I mean post.. of last week. I tried hard to be controversial, I guess everyone agreed with my summations..it can be tough being the voice of reason.
